Trisha Pons

I am thinking about Trisha, Abby and their family today, Trisha's birthday. Although the sadness never goes away, memories of the encouragement she gave me through nursing school always makes me smile. She would say "You need to get out of the nursing home and stay in ICU. You can do it! You are doing a great job, you just don't give yourself enough credit!" She never gave herself enough credit either! I think that's why I connected with her so easily. We were alot alike, just as she was so much like Laura. I keep a picture of her and Laura on my dresser by my alarm clock and when I have to get up for work and would rather sleep in, I see her smile and sometimes tell her, "I know, Trish. I should have stayed in ICU!" It always makes me smile. She will be forever missed but forever a part of the nurse I am today.

I just went to Wilmington on October 15th.  We stopped at the cemetry to leave silly bands for Abby and Trish.  I am sure Abby would have had a collection of them and Trish would be sporting one at work.....one that Abby would have given her.  We stop there alot.  It helps that you can leave things.  I can't get to Arlington as frequently for my brother, but I can leave alittle for Trish.... I am sure she passes it on to him.
